NATURE OF THE ADMIRALTY JURISDICTION

1 INTRODUCTION

At the time of writing the first edition of this book, a new Arrest Convention 1999 was approved by a Diplomatic Conference, which - if enacted by the UK - would have the effect of enlarging the list of claims and maritime liens that could be enforced in the Admiralty Court.1 Six years on, and the Arrest Convention has not been enacted.
