Two out of three for Rambus in patent office ruling
UNITED STATES – The US Patent and Trademark Office issued a mixed ruling for chip maker Rambus, validating two of the three patents in
its infringement suit against Nvidia. Nvidia had requested a USPTO review of the three patents following a complaint Rambus
had made to the US International Trade Commission. In January this year, a preliminary ITC judgement had ruled that three
of the nine patents relating to memory controllers in Rambus’ suit had been infringed by Nvidia. The ITC is yet to make a
final decision in the case.
