Transfer in Russia

Vironika Pilyugina of Lovells CIS reviews the transfer of trademark rights in the Russian Federation

The introduction of the new trademark regulations in part IV of the Civil Code of Russian Federation in January 2008 has led to the development, by the Russian Patent and Trademark Office (Rospatent), of further clarifications in relation to trademark assignment agreements. The Russian courts have simultaneously reflected these developments in recent decisions. This article reviews the issues to be kept in mind by trademark owners.
