Oct 28, pipeline leak

Philippines: an oil pipeline that supplies about 60% of Manila’s petrol was temporarily shut down by the authorities after springing a potentially deadly leak. The leak was located beneath a high-rise apartment block in the capital’s Makati financial district. The block was evacuated and oil was found escaping from the pipeline into the basement garage of the 22-storey block. Pipeline operator First Philippine Industrial Corp immediately complied with the order and said it was working with the authorities to trace the source of the leak. The pipe links the firm’s Manila depot to a petroleum facility in the port of Batangas, about 100 km south of the capital.
