Light cast on shadows: the new regulatory structure
The past month has seen further light shone on the future regulatory framework, which will soon exist in preliminary ‘shadow’ form. Esther Martin reports on the updates.
In February HM Treasury released ‘A new approach to financial regulation: building a stronger system’, which sets out the
blueprint for the future of UK financial services regulation. The government is tackling what it sees as the fatal weakness
of the former tripartite structure: that no one authority had overall responsibility for financial stability.
