France to ban non-biodegradable plastic bags from 2016

France has joined Italy in banning all single-use plastic bags that are not biodegradable and compostable, the country’s Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, Ségolène Royal announced last week – adding that jobs would be created in France to produce biodegradable bags.
