MEPs elect Juncker Commission President

The 15 July election by secret ballot saw former Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker win by 422 votes in favour to 250 against, with 47 abstentions. The total number of votes cast was 729,10 of which were non valid. The minimum number of votes required for election was 376, a simple majority of Parliament’s 751 MEPs.
