Italian Presidency to prioritise plastic bags

The Italian Presidency that kicked off this month is to make the European Commission proposal to reduce the consumption of lightweight plastic carrier bags a “legislative priority,” Italian Environment Minister Gian Luca Galletti told MEPs at the inaugural meeting of the European Parliament’s Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee last week.
