The tide is high

The Anti-Counterfeiting Group’s director general Phil Lewis says that in order to tackle the rising level of fakes, the IP community must adopt a cross-sector, cross-border and multi-agency approach

Last year, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) published updated figures on the scope and scale of intellectual property (IP) crime, which revealed that the world trade in fake goods is now worth $509bn; representing 3% of world trade. More than this, almost 7% of products imported into Europe are now counterfeit.
