Land Rover Defender lacks ‘distinctiveness’, court rules

Jaguar Land Rover has failed in its attempts to prevent petrochemical firm Ineos from creating a similar vehicle to its iconic Defender model, after the England & Wales High Court said the Defender’s shape is not distinctive enough to be protected by trademark law.
