WHO DG: vaccine project needs ‘significant funding increase’

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praises worldwide speed in research; warns that funding, bilateral vaccine deals and vaccine nationalism could ‘compromise equitable access’

Despite “remarkable progress” in Covid-19 vaccine development, the World Health Organization’s (WHO) director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned its global vaccine collaboration project “will not be able to deliver on its goals without a significant increase in funding”.
