Shamima Begum’s case to go to the Supreme Court

Shamima Begum v Special Immigration Appeals Commission and Others [2020] EWCA Civ 918

The Supreme Court is to consider whether Shamima Begum can come to the UK in order to be allowed a “fair and effective appeal” against losing her British citizenship. In July 2020 the Court of Appeal gave the Home Office permission to appeal against its decision made on 16 July granting Shamima Begum permission to bring a judicial review of the decision of the Home Secretary to remove her British citizenship, despite repeated calls by the Kurdish authorities now holding her for the UK to repatriate her and other ISIS members.
