A year on for Poseidon Principles
Now Kate Silverstein and Emily Widdrington, of Watson Farley & Williams, take a look at the first annual report on the Poseidon Principles
The Poseidon Principles are a global framework for assessing and disclosing the climate alignment of financial institutions’
shipping loan portfolios. They establish a common baseline to quantitatively assess and disclose whether those portfolios
are in line with adopted climate goals, namely, the IMO’s goal of reducing shipping’s total annual greenhouse gas emissions
by at least 50 per cent by 2050 (taking 2008 emissions as the baseline).
