Raging bull

The work of a bullfighter cannot be protected by copyright as a matador’s routine is improvised. Leonardo Mesones explores

TheSpanish Supreme Court turned down an appeal against the verdict of theProvincial Court of Badajoz (Section 2), of 22 January 2018, which in turn hadconfirmed on appeal the verdict handed down by the Commercial Court No 1 ofBadajoz, of 12 April  2017, both opposingto admit the inscription in the intellectual property registry of the artisticwork ‘Bullfight of Two-eared slaughter with tail request to the bull ‘Curioso’nº 94, weighing 539 kgs, born in 2010 Garcigrande livestock. San Juan deBadajoz Fair, June 22, 2014.’
