AHJ ACHIEVES CLIMATE-NEUTRAL STATUS
Alwen Hough Johnson (AHJ) has become the first Lloyd’s re/insurance broker to achieve climate neutrality according to criteria set out by climate action solution provider ClimatePartner. The independent Lloyd’s broker was able to calculate and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and reduce global impact, while participating in projects aiming to offset remaining emissions. The corporate carbon footprint calculated by ClimatePartner included carbon spending on emissions from energy, heating, business travel and other operational items. As a coverholder, AHJ’s portfolio has low exposures to carbon-intensive industries, with no presence in mining and limited exposures in the energy sector. Gary Masters, chief executive of AHJ, told Insurance Day the company is “looking to try and find ways to do better than just being climate-neutral”.
