DOJ CONCERNS ABOUT AON-WTW MERGER LINGER
The US Department of Justice (DoJ) is still dissatisfied with aspects of the $30bn Aon-Willis Towers Watson merger, according to reports. The DoJ is still “unsatisfied” with the implications of the merger, despite Aon’s and Willis Towers Watson’s recent sales of parts of their businesses to appease regulators, website CTFN news reported. CTFN said the DoJ’s specific concerns relate to “remedies associated with the corporate risk broking business”. In addition, CTFN said a member of the DoJ case team assigned to look at the merger could recuse themself owing to a clash of interests. In July 2020 the DoJ's anti-trust division asked Aon and WTW for more information regarding their merger, something that the companies warned would take some time to collect.
