TROPICAL STORM BILL FORMS
The second named tropical storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season has formed off the US coastline. Tropical Storm Bill developed off the coast of North Carolina, initially as a tropical depression that later strengthened. It is now north of Bermuda, moving north-east parallel to the US coastline. According to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC), Bill is not predicted to strengthen into a hurricane and will make landfall on the coast of Newfoundland as a post-tropical cyclone in the afternoon on June 16. The NHC has identified two further areas of disturbance as each having a less than a 40% chance of developing into tropical depressions: one in the Gulf of Mexico and one off the west coast of Africa.
