Cryptocurrencies and other products based on blockchaintechnology continue to expand at a rate that proves it isn’t merely a passingfad. But as companies rush in to conduct business in theseblockchain-related offerings, there will undoubtedly be a concomitant increasein related legal disputes. In such a rush, one area that may be particularlyfraught with possible disputes is in the naming of trademarks. It is importantto clear and secure trademark rights before adopting and using a new mark.Otherwise, they may find themselves embroiled in prolonged and undoubtedlycostly litigation. Two recent disputes highlight important lessons and providean opportunity to adopt and safeguard trademarks in the blockchain space.
