Canadian Broadcasting Corp v Conservative Party of Canada
Federal Court of Canada - 13 May 2021
Antonio Turco, CPST Law and CPST Intellectual Property Inc
In the political satire television series Veep, the main character, fictional US vice-president Selina Meyers, threatens a political opponent that she “will destroy you
in ways that are so creative, they will honor me for it at the Kennedy Center”. Presumably, Meyers had something more in mind
than a negative political advertisement. A recent Canadian decision related to copyright infringement and considered the scope
of the ability of a political party to use copyrighted material to criticise an opponent.
