FCA to speed up investigations and provide more updates on trimmed caseload

The regulator's enforcement armintends to process its work more quickly as part of a move to "focus on a streamlined portfolio of cases".

Currently facing a backlog spanning several years, it will also publish updates on investigations - in contrast with the present policy under which such announcements are made "in very limited circumstances". A third aspect of the plan is to deal with problem firms early on by making more use of "business restrictions and our use it or lose it powers for those holding unused regulatory permissions".
