Entry

4.1 Obtaining insurance by means of entry into a P&I Club differs quite radically from the normal procedure in proprietary insurance. In applying for insurance with a club a shipowner is asking not only for insurance cover but also to become a member of the club. The application for insurance cover and the application for membership are one and the same thing and the same form of application is used both to obtain cover and effect entry.
