Supporters of the traditional English way of doing things in the construction industry may have been shocked by the statistics in the Latham Report to the effect that we have the worst construction industry in Europe, inasmuch as buildings cost more in this country than in any of our European neighbours, whereas the industry pays its workforce relatively less than any of those neighbours, bar only Greece.
