Miles and Another v Shearer [2021] EWHC 1000 (Ch)

This recent authority, the latest “adult child” application under the Inheritance (Provisions for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 (“the 1975 Act”), is likely to be seen as demonstrating the increasing reluctance of the court to make awards for financial provision from a deceased parent’s estate in the case of adult children following the Supreme Court’s decision in Ilott v Mitson [2017] UKSC 17.
