Collective Redress Directive and the rise of class actions
At the end of last year, the EU published the Directive (EU) 2020/1828 on representative actions for the protection of the
collective interests of consumers, commonly known as the “Collective Redress Directive”. It provides for qualified entities,
such as consumer organisations and independent public bodies, designated by the EU member states, to be able to bring representative
actions for redress.
