The UNCITRAL Model Law on Electronic Transferable Records: an overview
Certain commercial documents incorporate a right to performance: the holder of the document, ie the person who possesses it, may present the document to the debtor and request delivery of goods or payment. These documents may be collectively referred to as transferable documents and instruments, documents of title, etc.

The road towards the electronic bill of lading
Setting frameworks for effective, universally adoptable solutions can enable transparent, reliable, easy-to-use, secure and environmentally friendly container transportation services. The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) is contributing to this effort by providing the industry with open-source standards that are vendor neutral, technology agnostic and free for everyone to use.
