Personal Injury Compensation
Compensation for post-traumatic stress disorder
FGX v Gaunt [2023] EWHC 4129 (KB)
In a case which is probably the first of its kind in the UK, a claimant has been awarded substantial damages for post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD) suffered as a result of what has been described as "revenge pornography". However, the judge made it
clear that such a term was inappropriate because it suggested that the victim had been somehow at fault and deserved to suffer
what had happened to them. The court considered that the phrase "image-based abuse" was more appropriate.
