Polish Ocean Line v. Hooker Chemical Corp. - Judge Brieant - U.S. District Court (SDNY) - Apr. 8, 1980

Shipper liable for delay of vessel and expenses of jettisoning dangerous cargo improperly stowed by shipping in containers

The shipper of sulphur dichloride was held liable for carrier’s expenses proximately caused by the improper stowage, by the shipper, in a container belonging to the carrier. The trial determined issues of liability only, damages to be assessed later.
