Goods found damaged after discharge - Whether carrier liable

The plaintiff fruit and vegetable dealers agreed to buy from S Co. a quantity of frozen cherries in poly lined cartons. The goods were shipped at Kenosha in cartons each containing 30 lbs of cherries on board the reefer vessel Ocean Dynamic . The cherries were discharged at Harwich. The bill of lading incorporated the Hague Rules in the form of the U.S. Carriage of Goods by Sea Act and in which the plaintiffs were named as the party to be notified at the port of discharge.
