Shipowners seek declarations that charterers to be liable for all cargo claims - Effect of Clause Paramount

The vessel was chartered under the Baltime form. Various cargo claims were brought against the shipowners by cargo interests under bills of lading. Discharging had taken place in December 1980. The shipowners appointed arbitrators under the charter-party arbitration clause. While the cargo claims against the shipowners were still pending, the shipowners asked the arbitrators to make two declarations against the charterers in the form of an interim award.
