The Formation of a Bareboat Charter
2.1 No special form is required for a bareboat charter. The normal rules of the English law of contract as to offer and acceptance, intention to create legal relations and consideration thus apply. 1 However, judicial doubt has been expressed as to whether a bareboat charter can be constituted except by a document in writing.
