The legislative framework for international arbitration in Ukraine is the Law on International Commercial Arbitration, which came into force on 24 February 1994 and is based upon the UNCITRAL Model Law. There are some variations from the Model Law. For example, it provides that the President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is empowered to perform the various functions of the appointment authority.
