UK’S INDEPENDENT OPENS ITS FIRST OFFICE IN IRISH MARKET

UK-based Independent Insurance has opened its first office in Ireland. The new Dublin-based operation will offer commercial insurance products exclusively through brokers. The move brings Independent into a market where 90% of the I£1.5bn annual commercial insurance business is written by the country’s 10 largest insurers. “We plan to have 20 employees in Dublin by the end of the year, and we will be working with a relatively small number of Irish brokers”, said Michael Gaughan, Independent’s managing director in Ireland.
