HURRICANE KEITH BRINGS FLOODS TO MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICA
Hurricane Keith approached Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula yesterday, causing heavy flooding and evacuations there and in Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Forecasters said that the slow-moving storm, with winds of up to 125 mph, could hit the US Gulf coast later this week. Meanwhile, hurricane Joyce has been downgraded to a tropical storm on its approach to the islands of the eastern Caribbean. Hurricane Isaac has maintained winds of more than 100 mph, but is continuing on a northward path east of Bermuda and presents no threat to land.
