The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999
Royal Assent 11 November 1999
The Act provides that a third party will have the right to enforce a term of a contract either where the contract expressly
provides that he should, or where he is expressly identified by a contract which purports to confer a benefit on him, unless
the contract makes it clear that the contracting parties did not intend that he or she should be able to enforce the contract.
The Act applies to all contracts made after 11 November which expressly provides for it to apply, and it applies to all other
contracts after 11 May 2000.
