COSTS

The new costs practice direction which came into force on 3 July is too long and came too late for inclusion in this issue. It is about 90 pages long, some 50 of which are new. Paragraphs which are not new have been re-numbered and divided into 57 sections, which in turn comprise a variety of paragraphs. The long awaited provisions for the recovery of success fees and after-the-event insurance premiums are of particular importance.
