Changing Defendant’s Name

Gregson v Channel Four Television Corporation (TLR 11 August CA)

In a libel action the defendant had been mistakenly named as ‘Channel Four Television Company Ltd’, a dormant subsidiary of the correct defendant, ‘Channel Four Television Corporation’. By the time the mistake was discovered the limitation period had expired. The defendant objected to the name of the defendant being amended and to any extension of time for service of the proceedings on the correct defendant.
