Route in Contempt Cases

Hampshire CC v Gillingham (No 2) (CLW 13 October CA)

The general rule applying as a result of the Access to Justice Act 1999 (Destination of Appeals) Order 2000 whereby an appeal is to be made to the next level of judge in the court hierarchy does not apply in cases of contempt where, by virtue of the Administration of Justice Act 1960 s13(2)(b), an appeal against a county court decision is made to the Court of Appeal.
