Ancillary Relief Appeals
Cooper v Kaur (The Independent 18 October CA)
There is provision in each group of county courts for ancillary relief appeals against decisions of district judges to be
heard by a circuit judge nominated to deal with such appeals. In the present case a recorder had by reserving an application
for ancillary relief to himself circumvented the arrangements which were aimed at ensuring that such applications were determined
by someone with the necessary skill and experience. Accordingly the application would have to be retried.
