Litigation Letter
London or provincial solicitors?
Ryan v Tretol Group Ltd and others ([2002] All ER (D) 156 (Jul))
The claimant in an asbestosis claim instructed local solicitors, but after the legal executive dealing with the matter left
the firm, the claimant was dissatisfied with the service he was receiving. The claim was legally and factually complex and,
in the circumstances, it was reasonable for the claimant to change his legal representatives to a London firm with considerable
asbestosis experience in the absence of other firms with similar experience in the claimant’s locality.
