Predictable costs

Work is proceeding with a view to implementing the predictable costs matrix agreed at the Civil Justice Council Cost Forum being introduced later in the summer. One of the matters still to be resolved is the date upon which the new regime should come into force. There are four possibilities: (a) all cases coming before the court after implementation; (b) applying only to cases where the accident occurred after the commencement date; (c) applying only to cases where the solicitor’s retainer started after the commencement; and (d) a hybrid date.
