CFA opportunity missed

Writing in the New Law Journal of 31 October, Professor John Peysner regretted that CFA lites will not have an opportunity to be thoroughly tested. They do not allow solicitors to recover the disbursements against their clients in any event; there may be difficulties in tying in after-the-event cover to this type of CFA and, as yet, there is no Law Society-approved client agreement to support CFA lites that might give some confidence to the profession. He suggested that the Rules Committee might produce a model client agreement to bolster the new provision.
