Amendments to CFA Regulations

The Conditional Fee Agreements (Miscellaneous Amendments) (No 2) Regulations 2003 (SI 2003 No 3344), amending the Conditional Fee Agreements (CFA) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000 No 692) and the Collective Conditional Fee Agreements Regulations (CCFA) 2000 (SI 2000 No 2988), came into effect on 2 February The amendments add to the list of circumstances under regulation 5A of the CFA Regulations and regulation 5 of the CCFA Regulations in which the client or, as appropriate, the client’s estate, may be liable to pay his legal representative’s fees and expenses in the event of: (a) the death of the client; and (b) his going bankrupt or going into liquidation.
