Picking up the Pieces: Marriage and Divorce Two Years after Information Provision
This report contains findings after research and data on the value of providing information on the help and support available
for married and divorcing couples. Researchers at the Newcastle Centre for Family Studies followed up people over a 30-month
period who had participated in pilot information meetings when their relationships were in danger of breaking down. The research
addressed a number of key themes that bear on the initiatives currently being taken forward in support of the principles underlying
the Family Law Act 1996: saving marriages; promoting conciliatory divorce; and encouraging positive relationships between
children and parents who separate.
