High Court for uncooperative mothers

In re S (children: uncooperative mothers) CA TLR 28 May

The father had had very little contact with the children during the seven years of the proceedings. This should not have happened without major judicial input as a means of rescuing the relationship between the father and the children. In those circumstances the case should be transferred to a judge of the Family Division. Further, while the court has no power to order a mother to re-engage in family therapy, a refusal by her could result in adverse inferences being drawn.
