In its paper, Disclosure of Information in Family Proceedings Cases Involving Children, the Department for Constitutional Affairs proposes that certain specified people, such as social workers, charities, MPs and peers, should be allowed to reveal details about family proceedings involving children without the risk of being in contempt of court. The proposals would involve amending s97(2) of the Children Act 1989 and s12 of the Administration of Justice Act 1960. Introducing the proposals, the Solicitor General, Harriet Harman, said that they would permit disclosure where it is necessary to allow:
