Chancery – Pass It On
Two cases in which the Court of Appeal criticised the allocation of Chancery work to a district judge without sufficient experience
and expertise, together with an article by Daniel Lightman in the
New Law Journal of 4 February, have focused attention on Chancery work in the county court. Eight county courts, known as ‘Chancery county
courts’ have circuit judges with Chancery experience sit as High Court judges of the Chancery Division. They are attached
to the District Registries of the High Court at Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle upon
Tyne and Preston.
