GP payment scheme

The Association of Medical Reporting Organisations has introduced a cost-and-payment system for general practitioner reports in personal injury cases under the predictive fees scheme, to which 52 insurers have signed up. Under the predictable costs scheme many cases can be dealt with by a GP’s report. The report will go to the claimant’s solicitor alone, nominations of experts and CVs are not required, and the invoice goes directly to the insurer for prompt payment. Claimants retain control over the medical evidence and solicitors eliminate the management time spent in recovering medical disbursements, while insurers regain control over the costs element.
