Compensation claims for inadequate services

From 1 January, the Solicitors (Compensation for Inadequate Professional Services) Order 2005 (SI 2005 2749) has been amended to increase the amount the Law Society can order a solicitor to pay for inadequate services from £5,000 to £15,000. DCA Legal Services Minister Bridget Prentice said: ‘By raising the ceiling to £15,000, this means that many more consumers will be able to gain adequate redress, without having to pursue the case further in court.’
