Rules demystification

The Civil and Family Procedure Rule Committees are in future to conclude with a question-and-answer session in which members of the public can participate. Announcing the innovation, the Department for Constitutional Affairs said that open meetings are intended to demystify the process of making rules of court, as part of the Government’s policy of opening up proceedings in public bodies. They will take place in Central London. The first open Family Procedure Rule Committee will be on 3 April 2006 and the first open Civil Procedure Rule Committee on 19 May 2006. Both sessions will last from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm. Anyone wishing to attend can obtain an application form by emailing: judith.evers@hmcourts-service.gsi.gov.uk Places will be allocated to ensure a diverse, representative audience.
