Jameel and another v Wall Street Journal Europe Sprl [2006] UKHL 44; HL TLR 12 October

The defendant publisher’s article alleged the monitoring of certain bank accounts by the Saudi Arabian Central Bank, at the request of US enforcement agencies, to prevent the channelling of funds to terrorist organisations. The claimants, a Saudi Arabian business man and his trading company incorporated there, were among those named as holding such accounts. The claimant company owned no property and conducted no trade in the UK but had a commercial reputation here.
